Orange is the new black – is it really though? We know the story with red – I absolutely love it! Today, I’m – a used to be forever-afraid-of-colour person – going to talk about what was once terrifying can actually work without screaming COLOUR at your face!
I don’t have a wardrobe that has a long history of colour appreciation, that being said, bright anything was once a no-go-zone for me. Fast forward to today, I’m living for red and wearing a bag with bright orange handle – how times change!
When I say “orange is the new black” I clearly don’t mean a monochromatic head-to-toe orange look – no offence if that’s your thing of course – but rather a stand-out thing, a touch of something something… orange with that je ne sais quoi. And I guess this trench coat is exactly that – your comfortable trench coat with centuries old check pattern: there’s absolutely nothing head-turning about that. But throw a hint of orange into that mix (thanks Topshop) et voila! Sadly this trench coat is already sold out, which was exactly why I jumped on this baby beginning August – never too early for new outerwear hunting!
Speaking of orange that has je ne sais quoi, let’s talk about this beaut of a bag! A well-known sucker for bags, also goes with the name “crazy bag lady (along with crazy plant lady)”, my heart skipped a bit when I found out that Dcember (a Belgian brand that stands for conscious production and unique design that was forever -long in my radar) was doing a limited edition collab with Monar & Clothes in celebration of their 50th anniversary, and my heart nearly stopped when they asked me if I wanted to be an ambassador of this fruitful collab – heck yes! As you can see, you can totally customise and change up your Dcember bag – I felt like both so hello crossbody/top handle clutch hybrid baby! Back to the orange – so Dcember created this bag to join Monar celebrate its 50th birthday with a touch of orange – the signature colour of the brand! Isn’t it a total beaut? The collab is available as of today, however there are only 10 pieces, just so you know. *wink wink*
Another majorly exciting news is my discovery of Arket and shortly after that discovery buying these heaven-sent trousers. Of course petite lady problems – cropped trousers looking full length – I love the style and concept of the brand. It reminds me of COS but better. I also scored an insanely soft red jumper and I cannot wait to whip it out in winter!
So, what do you think – are you on board with me dipping my toes in colour, specifically red and orange? Or nah? Also, I am beyond happy now that check is incredibly big this season, so more drool-worthy pieces are popping up everywhere. I was loving some last year but now I can’t help but drawn everything that is check. I mean the trench coat speaks volumes, right?
