Palms, linen, red – my summer in a nutshell. My ongoing red obsession has reached new levels, together with my love for anything linen, and palm trees – that we know, I am forever obsessed! Revisiting the palm tree oasis in Spain on this week’s style story – come this way!
*I’m totally not letting this ridiculously winter-like weather to not get to me, while writing about well… summer! I’m going to save y’all from the hassle of reading an entire paragraph on how much I hate this weather – I hate it quite a lot.*
Back to the real deal now – back in Spain, 30 something degrees, palms trees as far as the eyes can see – we are good! You may remember the time where I raved and raved about this Spanish oasis because it was like nothing else – it was the absolute perfect place for crazy plant ladies like myself (see the post here).
Another thing that I am crazy for, palm trees aside, is red! Are you already tired of me talking about red? Too bad! Because I don’t intend to stop anytime soon! My closet is predominantly red at the moment – it all started with a little red dress I bought in Hong Kong last summer and within a whole year my transformation’s now complete – from “the most exciting thing I’d buy in red is a lipstick” to “a closet worryingly full of red”. On that note, I naturally get incredibly excited when I see something that I like in red and linen and both – just can’t help it! And that, kids, is how I met… THE SKIRT OF MY DREAMS!
I’ve never been too crazy about minis but a good midi skirt is something that I’ll always appreciate. Like this red linen midi skirt goodness that I spotted on Paloma Wool – a brand that I’m loving a lot recently – together with the most unique shirt ever that I did a style story on that earlier, which you can read here. Anyway, back to the skirt – the shade of the red is just ugh (for the lack of a better wording); a burnt/brick red – gorgeous! And that slit… I’m just weak!
Speaking of brands that I’m loving a lot recently, I need to give a shout out to two brands that I discovered recently! Two Continents, is a brand based in Istanbul (majorly won my heart, as I always love supporting brands from back home), kindly contacted me asking if I’d want to try their super cute straw bag – knowing how much I’ve been loving straw bags this summer, I of course was very excited! And the other brand that I constantly find checking their beautifully curated Instagram grid is Oh Seven Days – another Istanbul based brand that does ethically sourced minimal pieces that are absolutely drool-worthy! I got to know them via Two Continents, upon finding out their collaboration – and that brings us to this absolute gorgeous open-back top that I wore in Spain like there was no tomorrow!
The red linen skirt with this white open-back square neck top is a match made in heaven – minimalism with a twist at its best (the kind of minimalism that I like). And the straw bag with the pom poms is by far the most fun bag in my collection. I brought it with me to Spain knowing that I will be wearing it a lot – took it to the beach, to the pool, out in the city, it’s just so versatile and obviously hella cute!
It already feels like summer is long gone (at least in Belgium) and no more summer vacay plans in sight, I’m kinda over it. However, impromptu beach days are always much appreciated, so I’ll be looking out for those and hoping to make the most of my summer wardrobe – so many cute tops not enough warm/sunny days. How’s your summer been like?
