Red & Gingham & Frills – three keywords to my current wardrobe mood. Today’s article is dedicated to my ongoing gingham fixation, revisiting frills, my new found love for red (anything) and embracing that flat-hair-don’t-care life! Intrigued? Come this way…
Today I’ll be talking about lots of first time in forevers. Couple of weeks ago, I featured my gingham biker jacket that I scored in Istanbul here (ICYMI that post, click here) and it was sen-sational! Gingham is still a big trend, it’s everywhere – I am massively contributing to its real life + online presence!
The second big trend buy of the year (yet) for me is these ever so popular gingham frill trousers, so popular that they’re sold out twice (which is why I linked a pretty similar pair above). These trousers also happen to be the most fun trousers in my wardrobe, too. I mean, look at them – it’s gingham and there are frills on the hems and the waist. First I was a bit “aren’t these a bit extra on the hem front”, but then I made peace shortly after putting them on and eventually doing some shimmy shimmy (how could you not, right?).
Another first time in forever for me is definitely wearing bold colours. Not little bit, not here and there but “BAM! I’M WEARING A CRAZY RED JUMPER” kinda colour, you know? I don’t recall the last time I purchased something this colourful, let alone wearing it. What sold this fire red goodness to me was the out-of-this-world material – it’s so airy, delicate, light (and see-through), I just can’t get enough of wearing it. I wear it with jeans, with gingham, with less-extra things… you name it, I’m wearing this red jumper!
Not particularly to be classified as “first time in forever” but surely a first timer, is these Acne-dupe-vintage-cat-eye hybrid sunglasses. I searched everywhere, but everywhere online that when I finally got them, I guess subconsciously I made a promise to myself never not wearing them! I wore them in Miami the whole time (see my Miami outfits here) and I’m wearing them now… It was hard replacing my Ray-Ban obsession, and I already feel like it’ll be even harder to replace my white sunglasses obsession.
By the way, it’s a major change for me – probably no one is going to notice but, for more than a week already I’m rocking the flat hair look. I was all about that loose-curls/I-really-didn’t-do-much-to-my-hair-but-just-spent-thirty-minutes look, but honestly… I can’t be arsed anymore (or at least for a while), on the plus side I’m sure my hair will be happy to have a break from that heat. Embracing the change on levels, yes!
Are you still feeling the gingham trend or you are like “babe, I’m so over that picnic look”? Also, let me know what you think of my le new hair look, should I stick to the curls or you’re on board with that flat-hair-don’t-care vibe?
